Comment: 1968 comeback special's 40th anniversary!!

Name: Pat Geaney

Comment: Hey Darren, Well, Well, Well, the 1968 comeback special happened the same year i was born. I'm reading the sleeve notes to the deluxe box special and it says Elvis cut it in June. A month later i was born and i always knew a lot of shit went down in '68 but the thing that impresses me most is that Presley sat down with Scotty Moore and Dj Fontana  and showed 'em how its done. i bought the album when i was eleven and was bowled over by how raw the sound was. It was only in 2003 that i saw the extended television version and i bought the box three years ago. Wow, the sit down gigs are just so cool, maybe i'm wrong but i read that Elvis and Co. had a one hour break between the two shows. I think in the second show he sings even better, even though the first one has its magic moments. Lawdy Miss Clawdy, Tiger Man, Baby Wha'd ya want me to do, the music is just awesome. I could give similar praise to Elvis' heroic last stand in the 1977 shows. He was the greatest, honestly i never heard of him till he died and i still miss him. The '68 comeback, the gospel segment alone always grabbed me on the original album.' Up above my head', the beautiful "where could i go' and the awesome 'Saved' written by "Leiber and Stoller, ie King Creole, Houndog and Jailhouse Rock. And speaking of Jailhouse Rock, then back to the special. Presley laying waste to all would be contenders and pretenders. If any one is ever in doubt who The King Of Rock ' Roll is, then play 'em that one from the stand up gig. TCE and TLC, pat.

Name: Mary Stonebreaker

Comments: Well Darren that show really was one of Elvis' sexiest performance and he was in great form physically and mentally.  Other than the Aloha special the 68 special was the concert most remembered

*********************

Name:  Gloria Ferreira

Comments:  The "Comeback" Special is a show that until today nobody, no entertainer, singer or whatever has managed to surpass its success, its beauty. No one surpassed Elvis Presley, even 40 years later!!!!!

Name: Noel Kenny

Comments: elvis looked great and sounded great he was home and enjoying himself and it proved he could still give a great parformanca on stage long live the king

THE LOVE SONGS

Always a true romantic, Elvis recorded many, many love songs throughout his career, beginning with "I Want You I Need You I Love You" in 1956 and running the entire span of his life. Entire eras of his remarkable life and career can be evoked by the mere mention of the title of one of his many love songs. Mention "Love Me Tender" and a hundred images spring to mind. The same can be said for his many other songs of romance. Elvis and his love songs had remained an unexplored area of Elvis' remarkable career. Now,"Love Me Tender. The Love Songs Of Elvis Presley" tells the warm story of the tender side of the King of Rock and Roll. Narrated by Ashley Judd, "Love Me Tender" is Elvis as you've never seen him.

NOV: ALERT!!!

Elvis, No 1 Dead Celebrity Earner 2008

ElvisMatters

The American magazine Forbes just published it's yearly
list of top earning dead celebrities. Elvis is still the number
one in this list with a whopping $52 million. That is more
than some of today's active entertainers. For example,
Madonna earned $40 million. Famous legends as Marilyn
Monroe and James Dean are among the steady names in
the list. New arrivals are actors that just passed away:
Heath Ledger and Paul Newman. Two years ago, Elvis lost
the number 1 position to Kurt Cobain, who's catalogue was
sold in 2006. His name does not appear on the list anymore.

Courtessey: ElvisMatters
What is your opinion of Elvis songs remixed, such as the latest 2008 remix of Baby Let's Play House?
I dislike thinking they spoil the original and Elvis' originality.
I think they are fantastic and contribute to his continued legacy.

What do you think of the scheduled Elvis duets Christmas album to be released?
I think it is a fantastic idea and welcome Elvis' work remixed...
I totally disagree with it and messes with Elvis' original work, something he was strongely against...

What is your opinion of EPE's latest statement and speculated expansion intentions?
I think it will commercialise Elvis too much and loose his original appeal.
I think it is great and promote his name in the music industry and to future generations.

Do you think the CBS Special of 1977 should be released as a Special Edition ?
 Yes
 No

Should FTD go down the road of DVD releases?
 Yes
 No

What is your opinion of Elvis Tribute Artists?
They are excellent and a credit to the continued preservation of Elvis' legacy.
I dislike Elvis Tribute Artists and think that they do nothing, if not tarnish, his legacy.
