 | EP 33 YEARS ON |
 |
|
Elvis Presley, January 8th 1935 to August 16th 1977
In a sold out auditorium, circa 1972/3, Elvis Presley turned to long time friend Charlie Hodge and questioned,
"...do you think when I'm dead, people will still remember me?..."
It was a period in Elvis' time that self questioning and life's meaning was a prominent daily feature in Elvis' life. With sickness in the family and Elvis' personal pain of experienced grieve, it was likely a relevant question at the time. Ironic and somewhat unawareingly self proclaiming, Elvis' true humanity was always evident. The King, Big El, Elvis Presley super star, he was mere mortal but yet, to those who knew him close and to the millions of his fans, a humanitarian in every sense.
As we mark the 32nd anniversary of Elvis' death, it is one filled with varied emotions for any fan, and celebrated/remembered in ones own personal way.
So as we approach August 16th 2009, ElvisOnLine wants to ask fans to share their thoughts with fellow fans. How will your mark the day? Will you listen to his music? Watch his movies? Read books? Tell us today by completing the below form. EP:32 Years On page, to remember and celebrate the life of Elvis Presley and the wonderful gift he has given to each and every one of us, whatever it be, as it's a question too complex to answer for any fan...

An Unforgotten Place... |

Memphis News... When we're travelling to Memphis, we always include a stop at the Mausoleum of Forest Hill Cemetery where Elvis's body was laid to rest on August 16th 1977. A few months later, early October of 1977, Elvis's body and that of his beloved mother Gladys were transported to the Meditation Garden next to Graceland. For years, fans visited the crypt with only a few flowers indicating the exact spot where Elvis once was laid to rest. This year, we spotted a small statue in the crypt. We were told that this was placed by the staff of Forest Hill Cemetery and will stay in the crypt for the next several years as a token of respect for Elvis.

NOV: ALERT!!!
Elvis, No 1 Dead Celebrity Earner 2008
 |
|
The American magazine Forbes just published it's yearly
list of top earning dead celebrities. Elvis is still the number
one in this list with a whopping $52 million. That is more
than some of today's active entertainers. For example,
Madonna earned $40 million. Famous legends as Marilyn
Monroe and James Dean are among the steady names in
the list. New arrivals are actors that just passed away:
Heath Ledger and Paul Newman. Two years ago, Elvis lost
the number 1 position to Kurt Cobain, who's catalogue was
sold in 2006. His name does not appear on the list anymore.
